ARAI CK-6: CIK-FIA CMH APPROVED YOUTH HELMET
The CIK-FIA has updated their regulations with the recommendation that all drivers under-15 should use a Snell-FIA CMH 2007 approved helmet, and that this will be made mandatory starting on the first of January 2010. For young drivers under 18 a CMH approved helmet is not mandatory, but recommended.
The use of a SA or K approved helmet is otherwise mandatory.
The Snell-FIA CMH 2007 approval was developed to provide a suitable helmet for children to use in motorsports, rather than a helmet designed for the adult head (and neck) and shrunk down to kid sizes.
The geometry of childrenâ??s heads is different so a simple scaled-down model isnâ??t sufficient. The standard only accepts helmets for head circumferences under 60cm, so children with a larger head should still go for the SA and K standards. The CMH standard sets different
maximum weight limits depending on the helmet size, with 1300 grams being the maximum weight for a full-face shielded helmet size 57 to 59
cm and 1100 grams the maximum weight for a full-face shielded helmet size
Of course Arai as the leading premium helmet brand has developed a specific CMH model, the completely new CK-6 that has been officially Snell-FIA CMR2007 approved by Snell
